Not having a clear title makes me wonder if the car is hot. Before putting money into the car for repairs, check with the police or DMV to see who owns the car. To get to the inside of the trunk, remove the rear back vertical seat and release the trunk lock from the inside.

the only way around that is to dismantle the hacth from the inside out, and then replace the lock cylinder with a new one from the factory. Or see if you can get another key made from the factory if there is a way to contact them with the vin number of the car. If not then dismantleing it is the way to go and get new keys made.

You can buy lock picks on-line, you can get in a lot of trouble with them if your in the wrong place at the wrong time. The dealer can make a key from the VIN if you can prove the car is yours. Hmm... no keys and no title ? What have you got yourself into ?

There's two ways you can actually do it, call the local police department. They have something called a slim jim, they put it in the door and pop it open. Or if you dont want to have to explain the whole car with no keys or title (appears stolen), call your local locksmith. Depending on your distance from them, they shouldnt charge more than $15, and they may even make you a key.

not sure about the datsun 280z but most lock's have a small peace of metal sticking out of the back if you can get at it put a pair of pliers on and turn it will open good luck.
