Default Diesel

Just wondering If anyone has done a diesel conversion on their old d21? Any other engine swap ideas? Gas or diesel. I'm tryin to keep it under $1000. I have a z24 in my 87 king cab 4x4, would it be better if I just built up my current engine. Mostly looking for better acceleration.

for acceleration diesel is not your way to go. Id keep an eye out for a wrecked v6 d21/pathy with the front end intact. and go from there.

Would a k24 to a v6 be an easy swap? I'm new to this kinda stuff and I would like to do the work myself for the learning experience.

yeah as the 3.0 v6 is a stock option for the d21. easiest way would be to get ahold of a wrecked parts truck.

no prob.

(ignore this as the site is requiring my reply to be longer)

edit: try to shoot for the vg30e it'll have the more modern fuel injection and makes a tad more power then its s and i sisters which are throttle body and carb respectively also fuel mileage is a tad better.

im really not sure I suppose it depends on which engine you find cheap.

normally a d21 with a vg engine is gonna be way cheaper than transplanting an engine.

I see them for 1500 all the time, and according to kbb thats way overpriced. Most hardbodys are technichally worth nothing.

I suppose if youre doing a ecu swap and all um and your time is worth less than minimum wage...

throw in a vq motor or a vg motor from the 300zx?

But realistically whatever motor you find for free should be your first choice...

i actually blue booked mine and it came up at $2200. Though if your lucky enough to find one for sale id grab a vh45. but, truthfully if there is sentamental value the swap would be worth more than any truck.
