Nissan Mexico exports its five-millionth vehicle, a red Nissan Frontier pickup
Aug 20, 2015 - 4:35 PM - by Nissan Forum

Nissan Mexico has achieved the significant milestone of exporting five million vehicles since the start of its exports operations in 1972, confirming again Nissan Mexico's position as the company's largest vehicle exporter worldwide. The five-millionth unit was a red Nissan Frontier pickup shipped from Veracruz and destined for Colombia, one of the top export markets for Nissan from Mexico.

The all-new Nissan Frontier, launched last March in Mexico, offers a bold driving experience, tough exterior styling and a unique interior with outstanding technology and comfort. Nissan Frontier is assembled in Mexico's plant in Cuernavaca, Morelos (CIVAC). The NP300 Frontier is a favorite truck among Mexican customers, with 5,095 units sold since its launch.

"Reaching the five-millionth exported vehicle milestone confirms the outstanding work done by our manufacturing team to produce world-class vehicles," said Airton Cousseau, managing director, Nissan Mexico. "The quality of Mexican labor is reflected in the vehicles we export to over 50 countries. Our exports are driven by our brand promise in terms of quality, design, technology and durability. It is a great responsibility, and we are proud to achieve it." ... [Read More]

The 2016 Nissan lineup: Charting the changes
Aug 20, 2015 - 2:44 PM - by Nissan Forum

Nissan is a brand on the move. And on a roll. The past two years have seen the back-to-back introductions of the segment-busting 2014 Rogue and 2015 Murano, which helped drive Nissan to record 2014 calendar year sales of 1,269,565 (+12.2%) in the United States.

Among the models setting all-time annual sales records were Altima, JUKE, LEAF, NV, Rogue and Versa. The Nissan LEAF sold more than 30,000 units in the U.S. – the first time any plug-in vehicle has reached that milestone in a single year.

Nissan also achieved the highest fuel economy rating of any full-line manufacturer in the United States, according to the 2014 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) "Trends" Report. Nissan's fleet-wide fuel economy rating of 26.2 combined mpg was highest among all full-line automakers in the annual report, which is the authoritative reference on new light-duty vehicle carbon dioxide emissions, fuel economy and powertrain technology trends in the United States. Furthermore, with the #12 "CALSONIC IMPUL GT-R" (Hironobu Yasuda / Joao Paulo Lima De Oliveira) coming home third and the #1 "MOTUL AUTECH GT-R" (Tsugio Matsuda / Ronnie Quintarelli) finishing fourth, they are now first and second respectively in the championship rankings.

Coinciding with the Bon Festival holiday, Fuji Speedway saw a whopping 56,000 spectators turn out over the weekend to watch the race. Enterprise CarShare, Nissan launch exclusive partnership on college campuses
Aug 13, 2015 - 4:24 PM - by Nissan Forum

Enterprise CarShare and Nissan are teaming up to make it even more affordable for college students, staff and faculty to drive around town. Today, the companies announce a multi-year partnership that supplies Enterprise CarShare fleets on nearly 90 university campuses exclusively with Nissan vehicles. What's more, from now until December 31, Enterprise CarShare users on these campuses can receive $5 hourly driving rates on all available Nissan models, which is an average savings of 40 percent per hour.

This innovative marketing partnership comes on the heels of new research from Enterprise, which indicates that the rental experience has a powerful influence on the decision to buy a car. This sentiment is especially pronounced in younger age groups. For example, 68 percent of millennial customers surveyed reported that they have considered purchasing a specific model of car based on renting it, and nearly one in three millennials indicated that a positive rental experience prompted them to start shopping for a new car.

"Enterprise CarShare is a convenient, affordable alternative for college students that makes fun daytrips with friends, grocery shopping, driving to job interviews and everything in between much easier," said Ryan Johnson, vice president overseeing Enterprise's CarShare, Rideshare and... Nissan highlights "Evolution of the Sports Sedan" with road trip to Monterey
Aug 05, 2015 - 7:11 PM - by Nissan Forum

There are many ways to celebrate car culture and historic vehicles. One is in museums, the other on the road. For this year's Monterey Motorsports Reunion, Nissan is taking a pair of museum cars – a 1967 Datsun 411 and 1972 Datsun 510 – filling the tires and gas tanks and putting them on the road. Throw in a showroom-fresh 2016 Nissan Maxima and you've got a rolling exhibition called "The Evolution of the Sports Sedan."

The low-key tour is scheduled to depart Los Angeles on Thursday, August 13th to make the 300-mile drive to the Monterey Peninsula, home of the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and Monterey Motorsports Reunion vintage sports car races.

"We're looking forward to joining the weekend celebration of legendary automobiles and race cars with our trio of old and new sports sedans," said Pierre Loing, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. "The Datsun 411 and Datsun 510 helped establish Nissan in the United States, while the Maxima today continues as the flagship of our sedan lineup. We think the three vehicles will attract a lot of interest and we look forward to sharing them with car enthusiasts from all over the world gathering for the weekend's various activities." ...
