View Full Version : should i buy the extended warranty on the Nissan Murano? panda 10-24-2007, 02:42 AM Going to keep the car for 6 years. Extended warrenty quote for 6 yr/120000km is ~$2000 Papa John 10-24-2007, 02:45 AM It's like any other ext warranty. If you'll be able to put out the money for whatever may go wrong, then don't buy it. But if you wont have the, say $3000 for a transmission, then buy it, BUT... you don't have to pay the full price. The dealership makes a lot on ext. warranties. We just purchased a Nissan for our daughter and got the ext warr. for $400 less than the normal price. And, if you buy it, make sure you get the actual Nissan warranty. You have your choice of miles and deductibles. super b 10-24-2007, 03:11 AM its a nissan.. so yes... S P 10-24-2007, 03:29 AM DON'T LISTEN TO THESE MORONS WHO SAY YOU SHOULD BUY THE WARRANTY. THEY ARE CLUELESS. IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!! 120,000km = 75,000miles!!!!!! All Nissans come with a standard 5 year/60,000 miles powertrain warranty... so you're paying $2000 for 15,000 miles of extended warranty.... ARE YOU NUTS????? THAT'S CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE CHANCES OF ANYTHING MAJOR GOING WRONG WITH A NISSAN IS VIRTUALLY NIL!!!!!!! I BOUGHT A USED NISSAN WITH 60K MILES AND NOW IT HAS 120K MILES AND NOTHING WENT WRONG WITH IT!!!!!! AND THIS WAS A 4 YEAR OLD CAR UNLIKE THE NEW CARS WHICH GO WELL OVER 100K MILES WITHOUT A PROBLEM. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE EXTENDED WARRANTIES!!!!!!!!!! Art 10-24-2007, 01:10 PM NO. Trust me... I'm in the business. Extended warranties are not real warranties (such as the manufacturer warranty). They are serviice contracts with 3rd party companies who nickel and dime you to death if you ever have a claim. Better off saving that money in a rainy day fund if you ever do need repair work on the car. The F&I guy at the dealership will put huge pressure on you to buy it because he gets a BIG bonus on ext warranty deals. They are pure profit for the dealership. Don't do it! DB Cash 10-24-2007, 01:13 PM NO! Never buy the extended warranty. Let's look at it this way. They are gambling that nothing that will go wrong and that they will not have to do anything. If they continually lost the gamble they would stop offering the warranty. Since they obviously make millions off of the warranty it must mean that it is not necessary. Keep your $2000 and go on a cruise or something. True Blue 10-24-2007, 01:14 PM Most extended warranties are a rip as far as I am concerned. Take the money and put it in the bank, you will be better off! bables10 10-24-2007, 01:17 PM I wouldnt buy a Murano. I had a friend that bought one and when he was stopping the seat belt ripped off. Luckily he was going slow, but can you imagine if he was going fast. Just an isolated incident I am sure. GOOD LUCK Walter G 10-24-2007, 01:17 PM Yes, Nissan is not the greatest company out there and they are expensive to fix. Totally unrelated, but I bought an extended warranty on my car and have owned it a year and two months. This has saved me $8000 in repair bills and rental car fees. |
