I am thinking of buying a used car (2005 model) which one should i go for??? altima or maxima

The Altima's are smaller cars and sometimes are looked to be more of a sporty car. The Maxima is a larger car more luxury. Both are well made cars and are nice drives. The Altima does get a little better gas millage. So its really if you want a bigger car or not.

Well it depends both cars are great Nissan's. The biggest difference I would say is that you can get the Altima as a 4cyl engine car or a V6 engine. With the 2.5 4cyl engine you should get better mileage out of it. The Maxima only comes with a 3.5 V6 which is the same V6 that comes with the Altima the nice thing about this engine is that its one of the top ten engines in the world for 13 years straight on wards list. As long as you take care and do your regular maintenance on your car with either engine it should last you.The other difference between the two cars is that the maxima is considered more of a luxury car then the Altima is it also gets a higher resale value to it too. Me personally I'd say go for the Maxima I have an 03 model with the 3.5 V6 with a 145,000 miles on it and the car still runs like new and has given me no problems out of the ordinary.
