I have a nissan hardbody 2.4l and have a metallic noise for about 3 seconds on startup after sitting for 10 minutes or longer. Had the chain sprocket and tentioner changed and the noise started after about 3000 miles. Any ideas or similar problems? Thanks, Markiev
This is an ongoing problem, the last chain only lasted 43,000, and I was told not to wory about it. The new chain has 12,000 on it. What can be done to repair?

Nissan made a special oil filter for the Ka24(e) motor that has a special valve which keeps oil pressure to the tensioner so there is no noise at start up. As far as i know there is no other company that makes one besides nissan. Go buy a case of oil filters from nissan for your hardbody and the noise will go away. Some dealer parts really are "just better"
