False Report: Carlos Ghosn not stepping aside as Nissan CEO |
|

According to a Nissan official, a report that Carlos Ghosn is stepping aside after more than decade at the helm of Nissan "is not true!" A local news site in Cool Springs, TN (near the automaker's North American headquarters) reported today that Ghosn, who is currently the CEO of both Nissan and French automaker Renault, would surrender the Nissan post to Carlo Tavares. Tavares is currently the Executive Vice President of Nissan Americas Operations.
Nissan spokeswoman Katherine Zachary emphatically told Autoblog that the Coolsprings.com report is "not true" but declined any further comment on the matter. Ghosn became chief operating officer at Nissan in 1999 before later being named CEO. His leadership is largely credited... [Read More]

Report: Nissan Titan and Frontier pickups to get new model designations for 2011, lit |
|
Jun 30, 2010 - 1:48 PM - by Nissan Forum
|

While Nissan refines its pickup truck plans and gets ready for an all new Titan in 2014, it is doing only a little bit of tweaking to the 2011 Titan and Frontier. The Titan swaps three of its four trim level names, with XE becoming S, SE becoming SV and LE becoming SL, and any four-wheel drive model will get a "4x4" badge. More substantively, captain's chairs will be fitted as standard on the top-level SL trim. The 317-horsepower, 5.6 liter V8 remains unchanged.
The name swap carries over to the Frontier, however, with the PRO-4X model keeping its name on the Frontier and Titan. The smaller pickup loses the six-speed manual on the long wheelbase SL King Cab and SV Crew Cab, but gains a six-speed manual option for the lowest trim S... [Read More]

The Nissan Juke may be a bit awkward-looking for our tastes, but first week sales in Japan show that quirky styling can lead to paying customers - at least in Japan. Local business daily Nikkei reports that Nissan sold 1,300 copies of the Juke in the automaker's home market in one week. That's 300 percent more sales than the Japanese automaker was hoping for in the first month. And those 1,300 sales are just the tip of the iceberg. Through Tuesday, Nissan has reportedly accumulated 5,296 orders.
Nissan is likely delighted with the early reception the Japanese public is giving the little crossover. The next big test comes this... [Read More]

We all know the typical sales winners of the automotive universe. Come hell or high water, Honda Civics and Toyota Camrys will still float off of the lot. Granted, that's good news for most automakers, but at the same time, there's a wealth of under-appreciated models languishing under the beady eyes of inflatable... [Read More]

Nissan Leaf will break the EV silence with a digital whistle [w/video] |
|
Jun 14, 2010 - 1:51 PM - by Nissan Forum
|
Filed under: Technology, Videos, Hatchback, Nissan, Electric
As we get closer to seeing significant numbers of electric vehicles come to market, various standards are starting to emerge that cover things like how these vehicles are to be charged and how to measure range and equivalent mileage. One feature that remains up in the air is the sound signature of electric vehicles. For years, EV advocates have touted the silent operation of battery-powered vehicles as a bonus.
However, advocates for the blind and safety regulators are pushing for electric vehicles to produce some audible alert that indicates... [Read More]

2011 Nissan Versa gets priced, includes minor updates |

2010 Nissan Versa Hatchback - Click above for high-res image gallery
The Nissan Versa hasn't received any substantial updates since its 2007 debut. It's a shame, since there's some pretty stiff competition on the market these days, especially from the likes of the Suzuki SX4, Honda Fit and Ford Fiesta. Still, Nissan adds incremental updates annually, and the 2011 model year is no different. What's most important, though, is that pricing for the latest Versa has gone unchanged, meaning the bottom-end 1.6 Base sedan still rings in at $9,990, and the top-end 1.8 SL hatch commands...
